Privacy Policy Terms of Service Student Enrollment Agreement

Effective date: October 24, 2026
Last updated: October 24, 2026

Language Climber LLC, a New York limited liability company, doing business as Language Climber ("Language Climber," "we," "us," "our"), provides live online English and Spanish lessons, workplace language training, and U.S. Citizenship and GED test preparation (the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through languageclimber.com (the "Site") and the Services, how we use and share it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It applies to students, parents and guardians, prospective students, and employer contacts.

By using the Site or enrolling in the Services, you acknowledge this Privacy Policy. Our Terms of Service and Student Enrollment Agreement also apply.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact and enrollment information: name, email address, phone number, preferred language, the course or plan you choose, your availability, and any message you send us.
  • Placement and learning information: your answers and results on our placement assessment (by phone or video), your level, learning goals, instructor notes, attendance, homework, assessments, and progress reports.
  • Account and communications: messages, emails, texts, and call notes between you and us or your instructor.
  • Parent or guardian information: if a student is under 18, the parent's or guardian's name and contact details and their consent.
  • Employer-sponsored training: if your employer enrolls you, the information your employer gives us to arrange the training (for example, your name, work email, department, and schedule).

Payment information

Payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. You enter card details directly into Stripe's checkout. We do not receive or store your full card number or security code. Stripe sends us your name, email, billing country and ZIP code, the plan purchased, payment status, and the card brand and last four digits. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Information collected automatically

  • Server logs: our website host records IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page, and date and time, to deliver and secure the Site.
  • Local storage: the Site saves your language choice (English or Spanish) in your browser. It is not used to identify or track you.
  • Google Fonts: your browser connects to Google's servers to load fonts, which gives Google your IP address and browser information. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Video classes: the video platform we use for classes, Zoom, collects technical and usage data under its own privacy policy.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or cross-site tracking technologies on the Site. If that changes, we will update this policy before doing so.

Information we do not want

We do not ask for, and you should not send us or share in class: Social Security numbers, immigration status or documents, alien registration (A-) numbers, passport or other government ID numbers, bank account numbers, or medical information. Citizenship preparation is taught using the official public study materials; you never need to disclose your own immigration history to take our classes. If you send us this information anyway, we will delete it when we notice it, unless the law requires us to keep it.

2. How we use your information

We use personal information only to:

  • Respond to inquiries and process enrollment.
  • Conduct placement assessments and assign you to the right level, class, and instructor.
  • Schedule, deliver, and personalize lessons, and track attendance and progress.
  • Process payments, manage subscriptions, send receipts, and send the renewal and cancellation notices the law requires.
  • Communicate with you about your classes, schedule changes, and your account.
  • Report attendance and progress to your employer, only for employer-sponsored training.
  • Send marketing messages, only if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time.
  • Maintain the security of the Site and Services, and prevent fraud and misuse.
  • Improve our courses and Site using aggregated or de-identified information.
  • Comply with law, enforce our agreements, and establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use personal information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you, and we do not use student information to train artificial intelligence models offered to third parties.

3. Text messages and phone calls

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we may send messages about placement tests, class reminders, schedule changes, and billing. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Consent to marketing texts is never a condition of purchase. We do not share mobile numbers or text-messaging consent with third parties for their marketing.

4. Class recordings

We do not record live classes unless we tell all participants in advance, in writing and at the start of the session. Any recording is used only for quality review, instructor training, or to give an absent student access to the lesson, and is deleted within 30 days unless you agree otherwise. Students may not record, photograph, screenshot, or rebroadcast classes or other participants without our written permission and the consent of everyone recorded.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. We share it only as follows:

  • Service providers that help us operate, including Stripe (payments), Netlify (website hosting), Google Workspace (email), and Zoom (video classes and class scheduling). They may use personal information only to provide services to us and must protect it.
  • Instructors, including independent-contractor instructors, who receive only what they need to teach you and are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Your employer, for employer-sponsored training only, limited to enrollment status, attendance, and progress. We tell you before training starts what your employer will receive. We do not share placement answers, instructor notes, or private messages with your employer unless you agree.
  • Parents and guardians of students under 18, who may receive the student's attendance, progress, and account information.
  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or when we believe in good faith disclosure is necessary to protect someone's safety, investigate fraud, or enforce our agreements.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale, financing, or reorganization of our business, subject to this Privacy Policy.
  • With your consent, for any other purpose.

We may keep information longer when the law requires it or to resolve a dispute, and then delete or de-identify it.

7. Security

We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to our size and the sensitivity of the information, as required by the New York SHIELD Act. These include restricting access to staff and instructors who need it, using providers that encrypt data in transit, and never storing full card numbers. No system is completely secure. If a breach affects your private information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as the law requires.

8. Students under 18

Our Services are designed for adults. We accept students ages 13 to 17 only when a parent or legal guardian enrolls them, agrees to our terms, and consents to this Privacy Policy. We do not knowingly accept students under 13 or collect their personal information. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete it.

For students under 18, we collect and use personal information only as strictly necessary to provide the classes requested, communicate with the student and parent, process payment, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell minors' personal information, use it for advertising, or send marketing messages to minors. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of the student's information by contacting us.

9. Your choices and rights

You may ask us to:

  • give you access to, or a copy of, the personal information we hold about you;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • delete your information, subject to records we must keep by law;
  • stop sending you marketing emails or texts (you can also use the unsubscribe link or reply STOP).

To make a request, email info@languageclimber.com or write to the address below. We will verify your identity before acting, and respond within 45 days. You may use an authorized agent if you give them written permission. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. Residents of some states may have additional rights under their state's law, and we will honor them where they apply.

The Site does not track you across other websites, so it does not respond differently to Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signals.

10. Users outside the United States

We are based in New York, and we process and store information in the United States. If you use the Services from another country, you understand that your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the new version with a new effective date. If we make a material change to how we use or share personal information, we will notify enrolled students by email at least 30 days before it takes effect.
